JOHN BAYLESS
drums, acoustic guitar, vocalist

John has been active in music, playing in rock/blues bands since his early teens, and was a studio musician and under a management and recording contract through a Midwest label by age 16. After a decade in Wisconsin playing drums in rock, blues and jazz, as well as acoustic guitar, and opening for a number of major rock and folk acts, he relocated to Iowa City in the late 1970s. There he was involved in a number of folk/rock groups through the 1980s and 90s, performing in local venues, KUNI’s “Live from Studio One”, and downtown concerts.

He is also currently performing with other Iowa City area groups, including Bahri Karacay & Turkana, a group exploring the links between Turkish folk and pop music.

He is a psychologist, and Associate Professor in the Carver College of Medicine at the University of Iowa.
